I've read volumes of threads on the 7.3 and have learned an immense amount of diesel service stuff in the past months. But I still find a lot of discussions leave me in the dust because of lack of information to put the whole picture together. The glossary of meanings was helpful but what would really help is drawing or pics of locations of everything being talked about, whether is electronics, engine, suspension, etc..
For example, I hear alot about HPOP reservoir but do not know where it is. So is there somewhere a newby can look to find physical locations so as to put words to parts?

Tx,
Steve

HPOP is the square looking box on top of the motor right in front of the fuel filter housing. I have seen a pic locating the major engine parts under the hood. I will do some searching and see if I can locate it.

Found it. Look at the sticky at the top of this forum. Great PDF, you can download it for free.

what i find helps, is go down to o'reillys spend 21 dollars for a chilton repair manual, and when you dont understand what people are talkin about just flip open to that page, and read the task, look at pictures. *shrugs* on top of that you never know what youre gonna read when youre lookin for it. Good way to learn. thats what i tell my guys when they ask questions about my helicopter.

Yep, first thing I do with every vehicle I own, is buy a Chilton's for it. When I sell it I usually throw it in. I will have lots of notes scribbled down in it.

If you don't use it for anything but torque specs it is worth it.
