Well one of my buddies decided to buy a diesel so he can pretend to keep up with me. But anyways he is quite disappointed how I can beat his truck in my 60economy tune. He got a 06 Ram 2500 extended cab, 60k miles. It already has an exhaust, and when he popped the hood I noticed a pigtail left over and a pyro lead still screwed in post turbo. There were no gauges in the truck, but the previous owner obviously had gauges, and most likely a chip. :doh: (I didn't tell him that it was most likely not good news. He did mention that the truck just had a new tranny put in it. :doh: Anyways... He wants to get the edge, with the monitor, I told him as long as he gets some sorta gauges at the same time he will be fine. I told him I would get a few more opinions. Do any vendors here make stuff for cumaparts? Perhaps I can direct him. Thanks ya'll.....:ford:

TST boxes work well, as well as the edge box.
my friend just sold his 04.5 w/ CLDL, TST, and edge... needless to say, it hauled.

I've heard alot of good things about the Edge stacked with the Smarty too. Check out Garrett at http://www.puredieselpower.com he's the Dodge Cummins guy & he will price match. His customer service is top notch too.

Hes going to end up needing another trans with Crazy Larry or Scary Larry. Way too much power for a stock trans. Smarty is a good option as long as you dont set it to kill. We have been having good luck with the Diablosport Predator/Power Puck combo. The Predator is a programmer and the Power Puck is a boost fooler/Fuel preesure module. Together they work great and have quite a bit of adjustability.

All depend which download you have of the smarty. some of the newer programs are much better even 4000rpm and fuel all the way to the high rpms also. anything over level 3 with a auto or 5 with a 6 speed time for up grade. Put a fass fuel system in that truck and the higher programs run good I can on level 5 i hit 48boost I need MPI twins soon:bowfast:

I figured that would be likley... but from what it sounds like, I may have to stop and pick up parts from his trans too?

Do they make shift kits and what not that will help that situation?

Converter is the biggest weak link I believe. When it comes to holding the kind of power they can put down ( 400-500 ) a built trans is really the only option to take it for any period of time, and with and confidence.

yeah he kinda has a destructive personality when it comes to driving stuff. I think the edge has a parameter where it will de-fuel the engine if it detects trans slippage.

my friend's clutch on his 6sp was shot after 7k with the CLDL only, i know this truck is an auto so fwiw.
i forgot about smarty, those are supposed to be great as well.

he has done 60 2.209 best 1/8 8.216 86.79mph best 1/4 13.116 109.45mph
