So I changed the oil in my 00 7.3l the other day, I used Mobil delvac 15w40. Started, checked for leaks and then checked level. Everything all good. Got under the truck yesterday to investigate replacing the up pipes and noticed the paint on the filter is blistered and cracking off the bottom of the filter. Oil pressure and engine temp were both normal when driving. Has anyone else seen this before? Bad paint job, or is the oil getting way too hot for some reason. Thanks!!

You can read EOT with any scanner while driving. I like using my bluetooth elm327 dongle with torque to watch EOT and many others. I've seen 280* while super heavy towing and didn't blister the paint off my motorcraft filler

Not that I know of, I'm not sure what caused it to do it. I hit it with my ir gun immediately after a 15 mile drive and it was in the 230°F range so I'm scratching my head.
