Do any of you think there will be a shop that will be dion a manual trans conversion for the new trucks i know alot of people think the automatic is the way to go but some of us still like to shift ourselves. Or would this maybe be a too costly conversion to do ie. the flywheel will have to be made along with an adapter plate and such. I think a nv4500 with a gear splitter would be sweet. just my .02 cents

I would think that since there is benefits to both types of transmissions that one day someone would come along with an adapter kit for installing a manual behind the 6.7. Maybe in Ford got enough requests they would manufactor some.
If both those cases don't happen, there's the old fashion way, fab it yourself. Just takes money, patience, money, research, money, and more time, but practicaly anything is accomplishable once one has their mind set.
And as the story continues, since your the one fabricating the kit, get a patent on it market it and sell it, that way you can make some money on it. :D

i would say that within no more then 5 years ford will be back to offering a manual transmission. it may not be high demand but, people still want them, i personally will only have a manual period.

I do not think they will, that would make it so they have to EPA test another vehical have programming for it again. The manual trans trucks have to be detuned to pass the emmissions standards also. Me personally I have had manual trans trucks all my life but have a built E40D and a PCS controller sitting in the shop waiting for the right time and the rest of the parts.

on the op. It could be done but why not a ZF and a us gear? at least it would be bolt up not requiring custom parts

I wouldn't be surprised if it happened and sure would be nice.

Look at how ridiculously popular shot bed trucks are, and yet with the Mega Cab dodge only being offered with the neutered bed a company started pumping out converted mega cabs with 8' beds. I could see the same thing happening for the new Fords to get a stick, or maybe Ford will just loose more sales to the cummins camp

mega cabs couldnt be had with a long bed? i know a guy locally who has one straight of the lot.

i know the newer ones dont, but i thought when they first came out you could, especially seeing as how he has one from the lot. IIRC the first ones you could, not for sure though.:ford:

The Megacab has never been offered with anything but a shortbed. Some dealerships are buying converted Megacabs and selling them on the lot, but they have never come form the factory with a longbed.

Time will tell if a 6.7 manual conversion will come out. I don't think Ford will ever offer the manual again, it's down to economics now and the bean counters win more than they lose.

my mistake, must be how he wound up with one then cause i know he bought it off the lot, i like it its just a big long a$$ truck that would be a PITA in the parkin lot etc.

Well i know i just read an article the other day that chevy and dodge will no longer be offering a manual for no more then a few years. Everybody thinks an auto is so much better. I love my manual and wouldnt trade it for the world yea so i cant race but i use my truck like a truck and actually tow heavy loads with it

I believe so, but its just a fancy button or paddle shifter deally, not much different than me manually shifting my 5r100. I like being able to skip gears and to drop directly from say 5th or 6th to 3rd without having to go through all the others. I have yet to drive anything with one of those autostick or tiptronic or whatever they are calling them trannys that I have liked, clicking a gear off the wheel is nothing like actually feeling the gates and gear mesh through the shifter and feeling the vibrations of the driveline. Sorry but to me the "manually shifted auto" is just a gimmik and can be done with any auto, they just usually don't let you pick the upper gears.

a pipe dreamLOL really so everyone that goes into the market and buys a "manual" isnt paying money for it and getting what they want. theyll find ways to get "what they want" one way or another, which will mean some other manufacturer will step in an suffice there demand. just cause there isnt as big of a demand doesnt mean there isnt one and that it wont drive away business/sales.:pointlaugh:

Oh, I am sure their will be many aftermarket companies that will do whatever you want with the truck....

Getting another manual for the Super Duty from FORD is a Pipe Dream for sure...the $$$ is not there any more to offer it as an option...
