Just had the message "low fuel pressure" pop up on my truck this morning. Unfortunately the truck is about 400 miles from home with an employee in it so it is causing a problem. I am hoping a new fuel filter will be the cure howevern the fuel filter was just replaced about 8k miles ago. The reason I am so concerned about this and posting is because this is a very similar scenario to what led my partners truck into a Ford service center where extensive repairs were performed to his fuel system and after picking the truck up after a month of waiting it then burned to the ground on the way home. My employee has his 3 year old with him and I can't get out of my mind the chain of events that happened on his 2011 truck. He is going to be taking it to World Ford in Pensacola Fl so hopefully we will know a little more soon. Any input would be appreciated.

I'd tell your employee that the kid goes in the back, by the left hand door so he is away from the flames that are going to shoot out of the dash and vents and so he is a quick grab once you pull over. May be a little overkill but hey, it happened once already...

By the end of the day today all the dealer could say was is "We don't know what is going on, maybe its blah, blah, blah". Most of their suggestions seemed to have nothing to do with low fuel pressure. Seems as though you could tap into a service port on the fuel supply rail and manually read pressure. If its under 50psi you go look for blockages or start testing fuel pumps and such. It was suggested (by the dealer) we put gasoline in the tank or the DEF tank was contaminated. Neither of which happend nor do they seem to logically make sense to cause low fuel pressure. These two suggestions have scared me. I believe I may have to send another truck down to get my truck back to our home dealership where I know people. If it wasn't for that previous truck fire I wouldn't sweat it so bad but its hard to stop....drop.....and roll when your going down the interstate on fire.

Sorry guys. Dealer said its good to go. Charged me $350 and said it was the fuel filter. Went to get it. Paid for it and warning was back on before we left the parking lot. Now even more things are being suggested as to being possible culprits and questionable at best is their theories. Drove the truck away. Turned off the check engine light with my bully dog and traded it for a 2012 Duramax. The good news is they gave a huge trade allowance on the Fird. Signing papers in the morning.

well that sucks

that is nuts you had this problem twice... are you sure you didnt do something to cause it? Not pointing fingers... just wierd thats all how many miles were on the truck?

The truck that burned only had 30k miles or less. My truck had 48k on it and other than a defective radiator it has been completely trouble free. I had replaced the fuel filter approx 8k miles ago and haven't had a glitch whatsoever until this. On a side note. My new 2012 Duramax has 1k miles on it and I have a indicator light on in the dash telling me its time to replace the fuel filter....... I'm having no luck right now!!!

Where are you getting your fuel from?

there is a recall on the urea injection system. We just had it done to ours at work. It took the dealer about 2 hours (V&H auto, Marshfield, WI) to do. The service light came on in the truck. I would call and make sure that isn't part of the problem.

Binder, tell me more about the recall on the DEF System please? I JUST got my truck from the shop today, (Going out of town, paid them to change my oil this one time),,, when I picked it up, the charge was higher than they quoted, I asked them why? "Oh, your DEF was low, we filled it for you, The 6.7L Diesel Needs it" ,,, My reply, "I did NOT tell you to fill the DEF,, did I"?
Dealer, "Well, no, but it needed it"...
My reply, "This is NOT the first time in 40,000 miles it's been "Under Half Full" I managed to make sure it got it those times,,, I KNOW it needs it sir.....

Result, we'll take the 40.00 off your bill sir, so sorry.....

They changed my Oil and Filter, also did the o2 sensor recall on these,,

Let me see if I can find the recall. I just know we got ours done and it involved the urea system.

All the recall is about is for the urea injection sensor.
