I disagree. If it's separated from the rest of the site, only viewable to registered members, and doesn't contain sponsorship links, it will only serve to drive traffic. Want to be the authority? It takes traffic, among other things, as you well know.

The largest automotive website on the internet is Roadfly.com. They've figured this out pretty well.

I agree on the traffic thing, but sound technical advice and a place to speak your mind on diesel stuff without getting slapped is what will bring the traffic.

Millions of porn sites get traffic every day, and make good money, but that's not what we are.
