I'm in the middle of rebuilding my 7.3 in my 02, I'm hoping for none of your issues. Well really none at all actually

The Southern President
You know, I didn't have that many issues, except what previous owners did. What issues I did have were my own fault. What can you do? Shrug.

You guys have been lifesavers. Thank you so very much!

Never said any were your fault, just said you had issues with it

Even a new oil cooler, you still have to put the orings in.
Not suggesting this one only using the picture

And like doc said, there was so much wrong with that project you were bound to have some issues to fix later.
I am still fighting some in my little red truck. Poop happens

No, no, I didn't mean that. Truly, once the Beast was up and running, I have no one to blame but me! After all, I did assemble the oil cooler with probably not Motorcraft . . . . I did a good job of keeping receipts and records, and I believe I failed to order the Motorcraft seals.

Yes, of course. It's just that I was a little cash-strapped toward the end, and chose to clean the old one instead of replace it. My reserves are a lot more healthy now so I can replace it and the rings and gaskets again.

I'm considering taking the truck somewhere to have the main seals done. Obviously, this shade-tree mechanic was a little off . . . And, that is the only thing leaking besides the oil cooler.

Honestly if the main seals are only weaping i would let them go. It's going to be costly, and could open up another can of worms.

I completely understand rebuilding at the time. I have taken that choice before. 50/50 chance, and may have been successful. Never know until you try

If it were me, and it has been many times, I would just replace the Orings with the correct ones and save your money on a new cooler unless the old one is just that corroded. And no, the motor mount does not have to be touched.

I never said it had to be touched, just easier. I like room to work in.

While I'm all for not taking anything off I don't have to, is it worth the hassle of working around it? Especially since all the motor mount bolts are fresh from the rebuild.

Especially if you have big fingers like Doc.......

Doc changed my name to Tank's Yank.
I changed skipp's name to Tank because she is now bigger than big. She could give you a run for the buffet table.....

Hope she has the kittens soon. Ima gonna go broke feeding her

Disclaimer:
Don't try this at home.
Tjctransport has an unusually hard head. Unless you are a trained and seasoned professional, like tjctransport, it is not recommend to use your head as a hammer, battering ram, plow, jack stand, or other such instrument. You do so at your own risk.
