that sure do look like a hole to me.
According to the transmission I took out, that is definitely a hole.

I am so sad. I wanted to be able to keep this transmission so very badly. 😪

One thing I want to make clear - this is not DieselSite's doing. That transmission was bounced in shipping.

No way could it have passed dyno with the hole from the DTR Smash.

If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. [Hee Haw]

I get it, they can't help damage caused by a yo-yo on a forklift somewhere.
The cracks in the case worry me more than that.
Gloom, despair, and agony indeed.

Haha... your luck and my sister's... her van has to go back to the shop to have the transmission looked at again - no reverse again.. Oh and it dropped the drive line this morning. So need to get the drive line looked at now as well.

Well, now that I could compare the two trannies side by side, the hole is supposed to be there.

The crack behind the smashed DTR is not, however.

Damn, you guys are GOOOD! Thank you so much!

I had to enlarge it amazingly to see that switch crack and smash.

However, the truck would not start with the key. It did start with the key on and jumped from the solenoid on the fender. Also, the transmission is reporting "4th gear" to the Edge device.

Funny thing is, I never expect the switch on the driver's side. So, I have a FoMoCo switch here.

I have to talk to them on the phone. :(
Sorry late to the answer to your question

The truck will NOT start with a key if the mlps switch is broken, or bad.
If you look at the wiring diagram, you will see a wire coming in the switch from the pcm. It goes out another post to the solenoid switch

This is a real problem on the pre 96 e4od's as they changed the wiring in 95.
all switches are now the new style and must be repined.

Thanks, Charlie! What is MLPS?

New Question - Does anyone know what the number on the case means?

The tranny from Dieselsite has a 24 on top, and a 24-2 on the bottom. Mine has a 51.

EDIT - Never mind, even Dieselsite doesn't know.

I just don't understand why my Transmission Range Sensor Switch doesn't work.

Basically, the Pan leaks. The impact on the Range Sensor Switch may have "rolled" the lip of the pan. Also, the drain plug area was dented into the pan and leaks.

I could wait for them to build me a new one, or let them send me a pan to replace it. I have asked them for an extended warranty given the evidence it was dropped. I don't want to be an arse, and don't believe that getting a whole 'nother xmsn will do anything for me.

Thoughts?

Okay, I didn't take a picture . . .

When I dropped the old transmission's pan, the magnet was nasty with black slime collected over the years.

When I dropped this pan . . . One, the magnet moved when it was dropped. but see that mess? One side was clean but the sides and bottom had that same nasty slime crap. Apparently they did not remove and clean the magnet.

Manual lever position switch.
That's what ford calls what you're calling a neutral safety switch.
It does more than tell the computer what gear it is in.

Another Idea I had, but had to confirm with my materials science guru is that it could be fixed with a stop drill and a good TIG weld.

He said a penetrant test to find the actual (not just the visible) end of the crack would be ideal.
