I'm not 100% sure of what their jobs are. My understanding is the IPR controlls the HP oil to the heads and the ICP tells the pcm how much oil pressure to send to the heads for the injectors???? I'm drawing a blank, I'm sure I've over complicated this. Thanks for any explinations.

I needed to know too thanks.

Yep, ICP is the sensor, IPR is the actuator.

The HPOP is a positive displacement pump, it puts out a fixed amount of volume per revolution, if this oil doesn't have anywhere to go, pressure will build really quick. The IPR cycles between open and closed to increase or decrease this pressure, controlled by the PCM to meet the needs of the injectors. The IPR senses this the pressure created by those two components, and relays said data to the PCM for further decisions.

The IPR does not send anything. It is a reciever only. The ICP does not "do" anything, it is a sensor only.
