Does the super chips setup have the ability to capture and save data? You might want to look at FORScan and an appropriate dongle. I prefer to use FORScan with a laptop. I have an OBDLink EX adapter. I would grab the RPM, IPR, ICP, MAP and EOT PIDs at a minimum. Capture/save the data then sit down and look at what is happening second by second.

If I had the money to buy one that would be a great direction to go. At the moment I don't have two pennies to rub together

FORScan is free for regular computers... and you can get a OBDLink SX for 30 bucks... but I understand money is tight .
