Heres what Im thinkin. I had dp tuner send me a chip with a setting for towing (80hp), economy (80hp), high idle and stock setting.

Supposedly when you drive sensible you can get better mpg with the 80hp economy setting but here is what im wondering. when Im set on my 80 economy in town my truck run around town say 35mph or so it will stay 1 gear lower than when Im in the stock setting. cruising at approx 35 I can reach up to my switcher and toggle to "stock" and the truck will immediately shift and the rpms drop so the truck is running a lot less rpms. With that being said, I just figured I would get better mpg in town on my stock setting than my 80economy in this situation but thats just what im thinking..... Thats why I wanted to ask on here....

My question is should I just run in town on the stock setting and just run the 80 economy once im out of town and running on highways????

Im in the process of testing this but i don't drive it much so it may take me a while to find out.

By the way, kudos to dp tuner. Truck is a different animal than the dog she used to be. Pulling my trailer on the tow setting is where I notice the most difference. Good product!

i would run the 80hp economy in town. i think if you run that setting it will keep the engine from lugging and net better mpg.

The tow settings change your shift points when hauling. just like the tow haul mode on the chevy's. I would run stock in town and 80hp while towing or on the highway. my truck has a 80hp program flashed on it but i have a six speed so it gets me better mileage because i can control the shift points.

You paid good money to buy a chip from an expert in powerstrokes and that expert created an economy tune. I would start by trusting that investment and seeing what happens.
