Does anyone know how steady icp pressure readings should be on my scan gauge? Duty cycle at idle is 10.5 constant but icp jumps up and down 100psi.My idle quality is good.

i am curious about that too. mine does the same thing. At wot, mine jumps around about 200 or so psi. I doesn't hold consistant at a certain psi. ipr? icp sensor? oil pumps? normal?

So... you are saying this is a tuning issue?

With certain mods it can be (ie big oil).

But like I said, on most trucks I've scanned, the ICP jumps around 50-100 psi at idle. There are many reasons for that, not just limited to tuning only.

i have noticed mine was much smoother before i got big oil. I have come to realize that big oil brings multiple benefits. At the same time it does present some issus with tuning...like inconsistent icp, rougher idle at times, as well as cruise control needing to be smoothed out. I am curious to see how consistent others icp is at wot.

I think what we are looking for is.. IPR needing rebuild -bad sensor ect. Mine jumps up and down with the chip out also.

When it stops raining here I will check my icp at full throttle. I have stock injectors and oil.

For those running Big or slightly enlarged Oil, how rough is your idle?

Is it consistent?

Mine got rough after adding slightly enlarged oil. It starts after it is up to temp, but is not consistent. Got worse with Single Shots. Tuning has helped some. Mine idle stone smooth, when the engine is cold.

Mine idles pretty d##n smooth. Not as smooth as when it was a completely stock truck. I am probably being a little too critical about it. But I do know that a truck can be tuned to be silky smooth regardles of oil, injectors, etc. I plan on getting live tuned this year. Which should dial everything in nice. I notice when i am accelerating and then come to an idle, my truck will have a choppy idle for a few seconds until the icp settles. After that, it is smooth again. I think that is the result of big oil.

It stoped raining here.I found mine jumps around 150 -200psi at full throttle also. My idle is smooth as silk if you look at the tach but sometimes when the engine is cold i hear slight surging. When i had a hx crossover line my idle would be choppy after a hard run....after removing..it recoverd nicely after a hard run.

What is most of all of your ICP readings at idle? This past weekend I had my truck on AE to try and determine why oh why my truck still starts like SH!T on a cold start. Still get a blueish whitish smoke on every cold start.
I recently upgraded to some known good new to me single shot injectors with low miles. Truck runs exlcellent when warm like it always has.

My ICP at idle drops to 400psi, sensor maybe?

Cold dutycycle 16.5/625-725psi-hot 195 deg. dutycycle9.6-10.5/625-725psi.400 sounds low.Blue-whitish smoke on a dead cold start is normal. Mine has done this sense 15 to 20k during the winter only.Mine starts and runs very nice at 98k. You may have a hpop system leak. Maybe someone else will chime in.

Riverjet, what is your data rate set at? Slow it down.

Adding Big Oil should not make your idle rough. It should run smoother. I hope your getting new tunes for the added oil(Big Oil only)? Small single moded pumps don't need it.

No the smoke I'm getting is not normal! And after a different ICP sensor it hasn't changed at all. I'm not going to derail your thread though. Just wondering what most of you were seing at idle. Thanks.

My data rate is set as slow as it will go. That is why I started this thread.I am using a Terminator engineneering scan gauge. What number is slowest... so I can verify again. As to TrailerHauler you must have alot of smoke! A Little puff is going to be normal.Your not derailing the thread,I am here to learn.
