Having a hard time keeping the stock boots on with the gt42r and 50psi of boost. IC tubes are stock but the intake Y and intakes are smooth. I just bought some better clamps and hose. I have cleaned and roughed up the clamp area's and tried the hairspray trick.
But here's my question. I'm thinking of welding some wire, about the thickness of a coat hanger, around the ends of the tubes to help keep them from sliding off. Good idea, bad idea?
Any other idea's? Thanks.

Yeah, putting a ridge around the edge of the tube is the way to go. Thats the way all the high pressure tractors, drag cars that I work on are, no problems with blowing tubes off... :)

Wish someone had pics of wide open's setup on their race trucks. Very ingenious and neat looking.

Basically connects the two pieces together with a metal strap which bridges over the boot, that way they can seperate, and therefore can't come loose.

I'll try the new boots, clamps and wire trick. If that doesn't work then I'll bolt everything together. I'm not making that much boost.

Friggin show off Bigr. What trick did you have to turn for those puppies?:D
Damn, those are nice. I don't quite need that level of retention yet but it would be sweet to show off.

BTW, Where do you get new IC tubes other than ford? I have a boot on the passenger side tube where wires wore a thin spot in the tube and it blew it out. Some where I saw banks tubes for sale but can't seem to find them now.

Keep Strokin'

Like mentioned I would either have a bead rolled in or a welded line 360*. I bought true CAC hose in a 36" stick and use a quality CT hose clamp. Make sure everything is super clean.

my ic tubes are rolled on every end, with the biggest bead that roller would possibly do. i've had the beads on there for a long time. i've always noticed though, at the top where the ic pipe meets the intake "y" andd where the turbo meets the hot pipe, they tend to move a bit, so we strapped it for good measure...because even with beads i could see the boots moving a bit, i believe this only started happening once i started hitting 58 psi.

as for the intake plenums, TN made me a custom set of high rise intakes with a very large bead. ive only lost aboot there once, and i believe that to be installer error. with me changing turbo's anything is possible.
