Hi all, I just completed a fuel bowl rebuild & fuel pump (mechanical) replacement on my 1995 F-350 7.3 turbo diesel. What is the best way to prime the engine's fuel system so it will start without battery and/or starter overload? In other words, what are the procedures for a restart of my truck to get it back on the road? Thanks in advance.

Crank it, the fuel system is self priming. If you like you can fill the filter housing with clean fresh fuel and if you have any problems starting you can purge the air by releasing it through the schrader valve on the drivers side of the filter housing.

Boy am I new at this diesel speak. Schrader valve? Anyway, I did what you suggested in the beginning part of your instructions and lo and behold, within 2.5 to 3.5 seconds, it started right up. Sweet! Thank you very much Bugman. I appreciate the quick response.

There is a valve on the FPR on the drivers side of the bowl that you can use to purge the air or get a fuel pressure measurement from.
