well since i have a 97, and have never touched the motor, any input on exhaust and intake ? is it worth it to put a 3.5" DP ? i think she needs some giddy-up and havent even pondered where to start.

I had a 3.5" dp on my 96 and it wasnt worth it. I smashed the firewall for the extra clearance and it made things so noisy in the cab i'll never do it again. Just go with a 3" to 4" dp, gut the ebpv and if you want a cheap intake use a napa 6637 filter or a good intake id recommend an afe stage 2. Then of course gauges, chip, intercooler, etc...

Magnaflow makes a 2-piece stainless dp that is 3-3.5" and works good.

I would do dp + exhaust, Intercooler, AFE stage 2, dp tuner, some stage 1's, and an electric/reg return fuel system.

Should be a very nice setup for towing around the other beast.

I would also go with a 3 inch downpipe. From what I have seen to do a big downpipe requires making the firewill pretty ugly unless the motor is out and you fab up a small tunnel for it to run down in. I run a Banks pipe and actually really like it for the direct bolt up flange to the cat and the built in heat sheilding on the upper half. I assume you have to retain the cat or at least the appearance of one given the state you live in.

I agree with a 3 inch dp. The dp that came with the h2e rubs, and its just a 3 inch. I had to massage the firewall even more to fit it in place of the previous 3 inch I had on the stock turbo. Talk about a PITA

Check out my signature, it's a towin maniac!!

Definitly want to put a 1.0 housing on that thing if you are goin with stage 1's or less on injector's. That made a lot of difference in spool up and EGT's on mine while towing.

I tow with mine in extreme all the time with no EGT problem's at all pulling 10K. Only problem is it's too damn touchy and will roal the coal at will :hehe:

I will say for the cost of the DP I'd just get the full exhaust. I like the AFE's and MBRP for fitment. The Diamond Eyes seem to hit everything. Ive had the paper napa filter, the dodge BHAF and Im quitting on them for the afe. I just seem to get the paper ones way too dirty waytoo fast for them to be cost effective. But I offroad quite a bit. I strongly suggest some injectors unless its a CA truck. Then Eh. obviously there is tons more power to be had but for the budget guy that just wants to have a little fun, then stage 1's or less is what I'd stick with. The hpop and fuel system doesnt really keep up with those (long WOT blasts) and anything bigger just makes it worse. When you buy tuneing, just get some tranny treatment built in, The added HP will make it cranky.
