anybody? ive got one that i have had sitting around and am thinkin about makin an aftercooler for my air compressor??? 130psi? i figure pvc pipe handle higher pressures and temps than the compressor can produce. was gonna grind off the barbs and glue a pvc reducing cap from the 3" down to 1.5" that the compressor output has.

I would say that 130psi is way too much.

Just get some copper tubing and run it back and forth several times on the wall to cool the air. Make a dip a little lower than lowest point of the tubing and T a drain valve in the line. You will cool the air and trap 95% of the moisture at the drain valve.

thats one of the reasons im doin it to catch some of the water. living in the desert before i didnt need an air dryer i do now!! well it was worth an outloud thought

i just figure ive had this ic laying round forever and nobody else wants it

i thought about the copper tubing but the price of 1.5" OUCH!!! i can but an air dryer/aftercooler cheaper

1.5" damn that must be one mega huge air compressor!!

yeah its a big ole pig, 25hp motor on it, its like 65cfm at 100psi. it was one i got at a gov surplus auction couldnt pass it up. its on a 200gallon tank it dosnt have to run very much at all. i was trying to get a small rotory screw with the aftercooler and dryer, but this one was way to good of a deal and it only had 35hrs of runtime on it when i got it.

PVC loaded with compressed air is a fragmentary BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When loaded with pressurized liquid the pressure spoke caused by a leak doesn't cause a major problem since liquids can't be compressed. BUT, when a leak happens with compressed air the decompression / compression spikes that bounce around causes the pvc to burst like a ballon with shards of hard plastic fragments killing all within reach.
