On my 01 the prior owner put the boost gauge input just after the turbo pipe before the intercooler. I am in the process of ordering the IPT boost gauge install kit with their map mod. I was debating on putting a intake temp gauge in its old spot. just wondering how hot does the air get after the turbo before the cooler. thanks

With my stock turbo I was seeing well into the 425*F range at the compressor discharge.

Personally I would put the boost gauge and MAP line at the turbo output. I like to see what boost the turbo is making as thats what keeps thrust bearings alive. Also on my OBS truck after the IC install I reduced the lag alot by moving the MAP line. It may not be much of a gain on the SD but the smaller exhuast housing but I bet it would make some difference.

Black Widow had a graph that showed the boosted air entering the intercooler at 485*.

Combine high temperature with high pressure on even a good silicone coupler and you will get a coupler that's in it's third trimester, lol.

Push it a little harder past that and you'll get an oily C-section

The little 38R "Impregnated" more than one silicone coupler on the hot side when it was a single with flames rolling down the CAC tubes at 40lbs of boost with BD's litin it's ass up 24-7.

In excess of 500 degrees is not unheard of. And if you start running some serious boost you can get truly ludacris temps. Think what the IAT would be on a Mod class truck without the water on...

I noticed just this past weekend where a cable coming close to the intake on Double Overtime was all melted on the side right where it passed the intake manifold....

;)
