I just started playing with this tune, but I think it smokes way too much for around town driving. With each shift I am letting out a cloud. It attracts a lot of attention. Any way to clear this up?

If you think the 80T has too much smoke for in town driving something is wrong.

You need to fix boost and/or up pipe leaks maybe. What is your max boost in this tune?

If nothing else, ask Jody to give you less tip in fuel in the 80.

I am at high elevation and have a 1.0 ex housing and my 80E smoked too much in traffic. I had him tweak it and it was perfect :ford:
That was when I had just a chip.

Little early to tell if it's in the tune....if It's only doing it with a shift I would check out the plumbing first. But it could be in the tune??? Gotta love these rigs!!!

The 80e smokes also, but I only use that on the highway and smoke only shoots if I make an authorative pass. But around town with a 6 spd where I build boost, shift and start all over again, it can get damn smokey. The 60 does it also, but it is ok. The 80t is just flat out too smokey. If a cop was behind me, I'd be sweating. I eventually need to get to Jody for some fine tuning. But, I will check the boost pressures.

BTW, what kind of boost should I see at around 2000-2200 rpm? This is where I will usually shift.

I just read this part of your post...........if you don't want it to smoke you will probably need to use a stock setting or see if some custom tuning will help.

Joey please further explain this. In an auto, does the boost just keep climbing? My boost really hits when getting on in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear. In between 3rd and 4th there is some crazy smoke. I shift around 2k. Is there a turbo that would spool quicker, increase my acceleration, and still be appropriate at my minor hp levels. I have often heard about a turbo being too big and not having enough fuel to benefit from it. I don't really plan on adding more fuel. Thanks

Pretty simple, whenever you engage the clutch, it's zero load on the engine, so boost drops, causing smoke when going back into the throttle. With an auto, it might drop a pound or two. Deerezilla's SD smokes enough (if he wants to, in his higher settings)you would never guess he has stock AD's. It runs pretty strong for a stock injector truck.
