Hey all I've got some lighting questions-

My current setup is a set of recon projector headlights with retrosolutions 35w 5000 or 6000 k hid low beam (can't remember right now) and recon xenon high beams (useless compared to the HIDs. My fog lights were eBay sourced (I know!) and they were supposedly hid but there are no ballasts, and I bought them before I knew HID's had ballasts so I believe I got duped... They were relatively bright but now the halo rings dimmed and one of the lights is out... I only spent 40 bucks on em so no big deal. Now I'm looking at upgrading... The housings for the fogs are projector style with the fisheye type lense, so I believe retro would have a true hid kit for them...

I'm just wondering what talks opinion is as to LEDs instead... I know LEDs don't project light as far as hid in headlight applications but I've seen a few video comparisons of led drl's that outshine their hid counterparts since drl's and fogs aren't meant to project far, just illuminate everything up close...

I want factory style fogs as I like the placement and am keeping the factory bumper on this build, also not a fan of light bars for this particular application...

Any advice?

Pic 1 is the dimmed and dated halos in the fog lights, 2 is what the rings used to look like, and 3 is when both fogs did work compared to my hid headlights, clearly these were falsely advertised as hid ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1389513847.807237.jpg ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1389513867.705427.jpg ImageUploadedByAutoGuide1389513896.074594.jpg

I would stick with 6000K HID on the headlights and fog lights and personally not do LED unless you change your mind and go with a light bar. My understanding is LED is not street legal either so if that is true you could have cop issues there.
