2003 7.3L 4x4-first off I have solved many of the issues with my F250 over the years by searching this forum. Tons of great info and knowledge. That being said I could not find a post the completely described the issue I've been having. Driving at speeds, say under 50mph if I let my foot off the accelerator, for lack of a better explanation it hesitates. I have to let my foot off the pedal and usually when I give it pressure the second time it will go. It will also do this at idle but not nearly pronounced as when running. While driving today I noticed that the RPM's drop immediately when this issue happens.

Have you scanned for codes? I'm not the brightest person so I it helps me when the codes tell me where to look so I can focus there. It's also hard because things don't translate the best over the internet

I did some searching and for some people with issues similar to this it was their throttle position sensor that was failing. This may not be your issue but it may be good to look into it

Welcome to PSN!

1. Get FORScan scanning software for Fords (free) and an OBDII reader. Greatest troubleshooting tool ever! I do not have financial interest in this tool. I just love it.
$12 for the 1-year PC license (not necc) and $7 for the android. OBDII reader $20-$60.

2. DO NOT throw parts at it . . . if you must, then make them Motorcraft parts. Ford diesels are quite particular about their sensors.

3. Come back with the codes. Lots and lots of smart people here!

I'll agree with Hendy - sounds like throttle position sensor issue, but better to run the scan first.
