I have a 1999 f-250 7.3l. I bought it used, it never had a key Fob at least not to my knowledge. However, I would really like one installed. My question is, how do I tell if my powerstroke is compatible with a key fob or not? I would appreciate any help/info. Thanks alot.

I believe your truck should be fob capable if it has power looks. I just bought and programmed a new fob...bout online for like 6 bucks total with shipping.. programmed in about 1 minute...works great...for my 2001 you cycle from off to on 8 times...do not start...on eighth time leave in on position and doors should lock..push unlock on fob and it should be programmed..good luck

Some trucks have a diferent amount of key cycles..
may try google search on programing key fob to double check..

You have to be quick iirc it has to be done in like ten seconds..

Basically you cycle key a bunch of times wait.. and your door locks will cycle after a short pause .. if it does thenall you do is program it the same way..
that pause is where you hit tje lock button on remote to sync it.

Like the others have said, try step one and see if your locks cycle. If they do then go buy a fob. Remote entry was not available on XL trucks and an option on XLT and Lariat. (standard on none)

Here is the procedure from the 1999 Service Manual:
Programming
NOTE: All keyless entry remote transmitters (15K601) must be programmed at the same time.

NOTE: To program (or reprogram) the keyless entry remote transmitters into the generic electronic module (GEM), perform the following steps.

-Turn the ignition from OFF to RUN five times within 10 seconds, ending in RUN. If the GEM has successfully entered program mode, it will lock and unlock all the doors.

-Press any button on a keyless entry remote transmitter, and the doors will lock and then unlock to confirm that each keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed.

-If the door locks do not respond for any keyless entry remote transmitter, wait for several seconds and press the button again.

-Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, or wait up to five minutes after step 1, to exit program mode. If a keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed (or reprogrammed), the GEM will lock and unlock all the doors one last time.
