i had blown head gaskets on my truck when i took it appart the heads were not warpped but had pitting. has anybody had any luck getting the machined or whats the best option to do

Not gonna hurt to take a few thousanths off.

The first thing before you machine anything off your head is to check the block to make sure it's COMPLETELY flat....if that checks out I don't take anymore than .005....if you can't true them up with that then it's up to you whether you go farther....and adding hardened seats will run you a pretty as well....that's just my $.02

wouldn't it be better to measure the protrusion of the piston before determining how much is acceptable to remove from the head?
That's why I said check the block first...if it's ok then you still have the stock tolerance on the bottom end and can move on to the heads....
