I do believe it is time to renew my glow plugs. It was 40 degrees this morning and I had to cycle the switch three times to start the old girl. What kind of resistance readings should I see for the plugs? I am going to check the relay first, "little easier to fix". Where can I get the best deals on these parts? I have looked at a few sites and saw prices from $60 to $150. International has a relay for $24. Thanks for any input!!! :fordoval:

Even after the WTS light goes out the glow plugs will stay evergized for up to two minutes. Check the Glow plug relay first.

That is what I was thinking, the plugs are obviously working. If you let it sit for a minute to let them warm, it will not start. Cycle the switch a few times, it will fire right up.

Not sure about the Powerstroke but my old 7.3L IDI relays costs about $140 at Auto Zone. Sounds like what you need. I might try calling the International Dealer to see how much they want.

I figure I got the junk relay, but it fixed the problem for now. She starts now like she was new. After changing it, I figure it has been going bad for a long time. The smoky startups are gone also. :D
Has anyone, who did the CCV mod, notice if it helps eliminate smoke on startup? On them cold mornings I can just see the fear in my neighbors eyes...:badidea:

Do you mean white or black smoke? Because we did the CCV & they still smoke white when it's really cold. My buddy bumped up the fuel pressure on his 7.3L Powerstroke & it will smoke black for a little bit on cold mornings.
If you want to talk about smoke on start up you should see my IDI since I turned the pump up! :D

I have gotten a little oil smoke on really cold starts for a few years now, but in the past few weeks it has been more white. I started it tonight after work, probably 35 degrees or so, and very little smoke at all. I just wonder if the CCV mod will help the blue oil smoke go away over time...

Just a Cutlass on some huge a$$ wheels. I seen that at the gas station when I was driven by, could not resist a pic. Should have seen the look on the Homies face when I rolled up in my ****** ride snapping pics of his wheels. Had to be at least 30" bling blings:rockon: Really wanted to check out the suspension..
