Halo/ backlighting on OBS

Halos you see in new cars that aren't round are a special kind of formed optical cable. It isn't something that even the skilled auto guy is going to replicate at home.

IMO halos are bling that don't belong on an OBS trying to make it look like something it isn't.

I didn't figure a guy in his garage would have the resources, generally speaking. I was thinking more of a shop that knows the ins and outs of the process and could do something custom. Personally, I think it's a disservice to OBS owners that all of the newer trucks have these options and we don't. Guess that's just part of owning a truck that's 18 years old..If you don't like halos i can respect that, but I think they'd be a great addition. Especially when done right. Nevertheless, I'm sure it can be done, I just have to get in contact with the right people.

It's already been done. You can buy them. Just search around.

I've been hunting on and off since before I had the truck, can your provide any info? Just a FYI, I'm not referring to light like these: HID Xenon + 92-96 Ford F150 / Bronco Angle Eye Halo & LED Projector Headlights - Black

I'm getting the good 6 piece replacements and retrofitting HiD's.

Agreed 110% If you want halos, buy a new truck(preferably a fiat)

I'm sure if enough people tell me they don't like them I won't get them.. Pertinent information anyone?

I had smoked halos on my 2002, I was kinda worried they would look ricer ish, but I thought they looked okay, but we're dimmer than stock lights. All the obs trucks I've seen with halo's don't look right to me, but that's just my opinion. It's your truck, and you should do what you want with it.

I don't have anything helpful to add.

But as person that gets tired of being blinded by poorly designed lighting patterns on seemingly cool looking light mods, use your skills and smarts to make a quality pattern.

I agree, I think they look like crap. The only ones that I've see have the ring around the projector or are the ugly (IMO) one piece replacements. I think a halo tracing the outside of the turn signal an marking lights would be sharp. Still haven't figured our how to improve the halo for the actual headlight..

You can get led tube and make an outline of the inside of the headlights with it. By the way nice truck!

Or fishing line?

LED Tubes or those ones walmart sells could potentially work. Lots of wiring work. Enjoy.

cary @ct performance could do an HID conversion for you. He has a thread about in the vendor section. Not sure on the halo.

Are you using google to search? There are lots of threads about retro HIDs in OBS pickups.

Have you considered LEDs? When I buy new lights that's what i'm going to do.

I think I have the HID's figured out. The Halos are the question mark at this point. Not sure if we're talking about the same person but they were on here when I found the HID retrofits I plan on getting.

As far as LED's I'm not sold yet. I think they're good for light bars but idk about highway usage. On the same note I have no experience with them in the context of headlights and haven't researched them.

I have found these but just too much for my liking. i would like to find something that was more along the classic look with the HID capabilities of a new car. i like the halo strips, especially when tied to the turn signals. just adds to the visibility in the day and night.

just would like to see a design that complimented our trucks.

I have contemplated amber angel eyes though. I did not seal my housings 100% because I still can't decide if I should try or not. Mainly because I don't want to see them during the day but it would look sharp at night.

Where did you get the projectors from? I'm getting similar housings and I think the white projector looks sweet with it! Do you like their functionality? I will probably get multi-colored halos when all is said and done, but their main function will be amber.
