I've been waiting a while to post this information, but I've been working closely with a company to cast a new high performance 7.3 block.

These blocks are going to feature

- High grade casting material (same as used in NASCAR and Pro-stock blocks)
- Billet steel 8620 main caps with splayed bolts on 2-3-4
- main studs are H11
- proiority main oiling
- Larger oiling flow to hpop resevoir
- Larger main webbing around crankshaft and cam tunnel area
- siamese bore cylinders
- siamese bore water jacketing
- extra thick deck surface
- significantly thicker cylinder walls
- thicker pan rails
- screw in freeze plugs

We are working out details right now as far as price but it looks like it is going to be around $4000-4500, obviously the more we have ordered and made the less they will cost, we could get the cost as low as $3000

Let me know what you think!!!:ford:

Sounds like a great idea! The big power makers should love it. Maybe by the time I'm ready to go bigger, they will be ready and tested. Gonna be able to handle 1,000 hp ? :ford:

That's $4000-4500 just for the raw casting from the foundry?

Have you or has anyone sat down to figure what all the jigs, fixtures, tooling, and machining would cost on top of that?

Absolutely, 2000+ ft/lbs of torque.

Also, these units should be about 100-130lbs heavier than the stock counterparts.

No thats $4000-4500 for a finished part to your door, actually it will most likely be undersized on the bore.

I understand a bed plate design is superior, why not incorporate that in? Or is a bed plate not as good as splayed main caps? Im not an engine builder forgive me if they are stupid questions.

Hm, maybe I'll wait a little longer to put the Fordoata together. What kind of availability date are y'all lookin' at?

No dates yet. Trying to finish up all the preliminaries. They have produced quite a few blocks before, but its going to be 6-8 months out at least. This isn't something that we want to rush.

The reason that we went with splayed mains is to retain all factory bolt on oil pans, the main studs are larger than stock and the splayed mains keep them from being pushed down away from the block.

Don't worry questions are apreciated and wanted....

would the design be better if it were bedplate? i am no engine builder either, just asking.
my line of thought is that someone who wants one of these blocks would probably be willing to shell out for an aftermarket oil pan... can't be terribly expensive.

What would be the ability to eliminate the block to head coolant flow and use external coolat flow to heads? At least a blown head gasket without coolant could avoid a hydroloc situation. Just a thought.

Also, address the piston cooling jets for a better flow and design.

Damn Nigel that would mean new heads also. If we're going that far then I want 4 valve heads. I say bed plate if possible. Then the bottom on the bed plate could retain the factory oil pan bolt patterns. May mean new Motor mounts to get the clearance we need for the plate but WTH were playing with fire aren't we.

Since the blocks are going to be rated for Trk and not HP what kind of warranty they giving on there 5k chunks of iron. Are they using high carbon content iron like the big 3 or are then using some tough like a nodular iron derivative? Tough and heavy. IMO nodular iron is some tough chit.
