never seen a 7.3 forged rod so i dont know if they have the press in studs or the bolt that you can easly remove and replace. should i get new rod bolts or just reuse the ones that are on it? i seen where your not suposed to reuse head bolts is it differant with rod bolts? thanks

Rod bolts are reusable. These rods don't use a bolt that threads into the rod, it slips in through the top of the rod, through the cap, and gets a nut on the end.

Reusing the rod bolts (which are press in) is fine.

We inquired with our machine shop years ago about 'better, stiffer, stronger' replacement bolts...and they said the factory bolts are top, top quality.

we've never had a problem with reusing a rod bolt, nor have we ever seen a rod bolt failure.

Dave, thanks for that answer. I was reading the sticky "rod choices" and it said that most factory bolts are the weak link...
I was just about to ask if that was our case...
