Here is the new thread

What is this? Where is it? How can I replace it?

thanks,
Andy
It's a "Generic Electronic Module". It controls a number of things, including: 4-wheel drive functions, wiper/washer function, warning chimes, keyless entry, power window functions, interior and exterior lighting functions...and more!

As soon as you buy that new Ford manual, you'll be able to identify it, test it, remove it and replace it. It's in Volume 1, section 419-10-14, "Removal and Installation, GEM (Generic Electronic Module)"

The question is it really the GEM or the clockspring? How would I know for sure which one is bad?

Cruise control no worky, no horn and the Air Bag light is on showing a little guy being hit by the bag

thanks,
Andrew

If you have anything on your steering wheel except a horn there is a clockspring in there.

Do beer stains count??
Sure do, when you get a beer stain on the steering wheel, that night the clockspring gremlins come out and install one, they enter your truck though a hole in the firewall.
