Hey, you guys running stock fuel bowls and reg return kits having problems with your drain valves leaking where the yellow lever is. I allready replced mine with a new one and noticed a fuel smell last week. I figured it was the sorce and sure enough when I climed up under the hood to take a gander it was. Just a little seepage, not pouring out. I have the preasure set at around 64 65 LBS.

I actually have my valve sealed off. Pulled it off and put a solid piece of gasket material behind it. Just temp until I could get some o-rings. That was about a year and a half ago. Not a drop since then. Changing fuel filters is a pain. I use a Snot Sucker to empty the fuel bowl and wipe it all out with a rag. Takes an extra 5 minutes. Worth it for a dry valley.

Yep that's a common one, we replaced the O rings on my buddy's truck but it's started leeking again. We did my Ma's before it started & haven't had a problem. You might just as well replace the whole lever.

All ready did that, new one is leaking. I want to get rid of it and go with a frame mounted one, I need the fuel bowl deleat kit and some other things. I'm gonna eventully run 2 stock pumps in parall and replace all the plstic with hose to the deleat block. I just don't have the money right now so I just put up with the fuel, I take the preasure washer to it now and then which takes care of it for a while. Almost thought about making a fixture that bolts to the side and moves the valve to another place. ( Fixture, hose, better valve. hose ging down to botom.) If I go that route I'll try and get some pics, might be the ticket for the guys who don't want to ditch the stock one , but don't want a leak either. Thanks for the Imput.

It's more than just the fuel valve on the back of the bowl. The bowl itself is very prone to cracking and leaking.

Another reason I completely removed my bowl with ITP Diesel fuel bowl delete kit.
We'll probley just spend the $$$ on a fuel bowl delete for ours too if it starts leaking. 188k miles & no leaks yet. :lookaround:

I had already replaced my bowl once, when I put my regulated return kit on over a year ago. When I decided to go ahead and complete my fuel system last month, I noticed my new bowl was cracked in the same spot and leaking a little again.

When I put the reg. return kit on I cracked the bowl where one of the lines going to the head comes off it. Put some pipe dope on it no leaks there, Go figure.

Thanks I may take you up on that, If I get all the stuff needed to do the rest of the fuel system I won't need the stock bowl. Question, Can I use a deleat kit from Dennis on a DI system? I know Dave will love to know I got it from him, I would think you should be able with no problems sence the systems are designed to work with a stock bowl to begin with.

I don't need it, mine is'nt leaking enough for me to go through all the work changing it. I still want to deleat it and go with a different pump or pumps. Have other problems to deal with before I worry about the fuel system.
