I would like to get some sort of fuel filter heater or fuel line heater for my 6.4. I've had about 2 gel ups per winter that left me stranded on the side of the road on the coldest days of the year. If anyone has any ideas or sites to look at let me know. I do run fuel additives and am trying different brands this year.

that is usualy what i use. but since the state knows how cold it gets and you have to travel a very long ways to get away from it they regulate the fuel. it is good and bad. good for people who wouldnt know the diffrence between #1 and #2 diesel. last winter I was running down the road with a ambient of -55 with only using the white bottle. Up here in the winter stacks would make it worth owning. I dont think you could see behind me from the smoke/steam that was coming out of my exhaust. the only thing that makes me nervous is the fuel filter on the frame rail. So far it has not failed me.

If you are running at -55 with just a white bottle thats good. both times I gelled up the truck outside air temp sensor said -6 and -5. I didn't see any other diesels stranded on the side of the road. Maybe there is something wrong with my truck? Or its the picky 08's

Well the state also regulates the fuel so it isn't just the white bottle. It is kinda like super winter blend fuel.

I would check the place you fill up or what additives you use.

The stock fuel pump has a heater in it I believe but they disabled it back in 03 or something. I'm not sure how well it works if at all but you could look into it.

The 08 pump is different than the earlier pump but the heater I think is still there.
