I'm so tired of looking on worthless websites that give no real flow info I figure I can just tap into the world of knowledge that all of you guys have with this stuff.

I need a good filter base with a 1 1/4" thread and a Fuel filter/water separator that will capture down to 10mic and still move 180ish GPH. Preferably something in the Donaldson line that isn't a freakin cartridge style.

Preferably under 12" in length.

Apparently Donaldson, Baldwin and Fleetguard are much better at hiding filter info/pictures than I am at digging it up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Dennis at ITP is your man here I think. At least he has some good Baldwin info.

I'm using the Fleetguard FS1000 10 mic right now. I'm curious as the the efficient flow rating though, I bet it's not 180, but probably close.

Have you looked at a DAHL 150. Frickin huge but should flow plenty.

FS1000 and FS1022 are 10 and 2 micron nominal and have huge flow rates. Call and talk to someplace like AirFlo Systems, they are a Donaldson and Baldwin dealer and can get you all the specs you can't get online anymore.

I think Fleetgaurd/Cummins Filtration still has specs online without an account.

CAT 1R-0751 also a 2 micron filter at 12GPM, used on all their HEUI engines.

Both the FS1000 and the Dahl 150 are hanusly too small.

More like 90 Gph on the FS1000 and 80Gph on the Dahl....

I am actually really thinking of running dual FS1000 spin-ons in parallel to tell the truth.

BTW, the belt pump would easily hit 200Gph at 3600ish rpm even pulleyed as low as it can go.

And the Dahl 150 is what's on there now, and judging by the noises the pump makes only a few weeks after a filter change my money is that it's not up to the task of the A-1000 either.

Course I've had horrable luck with pumps though, so who knows. (Although that Dahl has been on there the entire time)

With 200gpm you'll need a large body filter. I'd look at the OEM fuel filters off some industrial N14/3406/C15 engines. Or, just run two FS1000's, they are good filters, readily available and pretty inexpensive. Be nice to be able to pull into any truck shop and get a set of filters.

Donaldson doesn't have a phone number for peons like me, lol. But Fleetguard did have a nice lady this morning that helped me out on some filter sizing, but the dang part number doesn't check out anywhere, lol.

I think doubling up might be easiest at this point. A huge filter in the 12+ inch range would hang out under the rocker (giving me that **** "Fass" look ;) ) and would probably cost more than two FS1000's for servicing reasons.

Exactly

Sounds like a plan, I'll go with it.

Now anyone got any good suggestions for a filter base that has a mounting flange 90* to the filter threaded shank?

That means that the mounting flange is 0* relative to the filter threaded shank.

I would prefer one that was 90* out. An "L" shaped one that could be readily mounted to a framerail for instance. You're would be an "I" shape I guess.

I'm talking relative the plane created by laying a flat plate across the end of the filter threads vs the mounting plate, not rotation along the same axis as the filter itself, although that would be important for hose connection.

Thanks Bogger. I wish it listed the thread Dia and the port size/thread.

Maybe another site has those specs?

I realize the second one down is almost certainly the one you're running. But I like the lower one, lol.

I know, who cares what it looks like.......well, me actually.

:D
