So I know some of you guys are going to ask why go through all this work. But, my truck is a 2wd eclb and I want to convert it to 4wd. I've seen the kits and other ways guys have done the swap and they're all good solutions. What I want to do is use the frame off my 93 parts truck, totally strip it down, have it sand blasted and powdercoated. Then switch the engine and cab over.

Does anybody know if there are any issues with putting a powerstroke in a idi frame? Are the fuel tanks the same? I know pretty much everything else should switch over.

Powder coating the frame is going to be big $$$. All the 4x4 parts will bolt right on to the 4x2 frame. If you live in the rust belt, I can see why your doing it but if not. Waste of time and money in my opinion

I know the front of the frame is different. Sky road makes a 4wd conversion kit for the obs. My truck is completely rust freee, it's been in California and NM it's whole life. I have a full restoration shop at home with a paint booth and all, so I'm not worried about the cost. Besides parts I can do it all myself. I was just thinking it would be easier to "restore" a 4x4 frame and have it a roller since I was going to lift my cab off anyway.
