Since these motors have been out a while and have been straight piped without problem, who is going to be the first to make some serious power? It seems as though 6.4 injectors just need extrude honing to deliver more fuel like the d-max and cummins motors and the tuning is coming around fairly quick so when will there be a 500 horse 6.4.

Never, because the thing is so over layened with emisions control I just don't think its posable. Of coarse the 6.0 does really good, but its not as complicated as the 6.4 I believe from what I ve read. It will be interesting to see what happens with the motor though, its just gonna take some time be fore people can figure a way around all the crap.

I agree. Have you ever looked under the hood on the 6.4. Its impossible to drop a wrench anywhere. Theres no room for it to fall.

we have one here locally with the basic sct extreme dpf back and intake and nozzles it runs pretty good

it will get the 6.0 with stage 2's and the TN66 charger on the jump but the 6.0 will blow its doors off on the run down!!

we need custom tunnin!!!

I heard from matt at Spartan Diesel, (we were just shooting the chit one night on IM), that he's hacked off all the post turbo emissions, and there is enough fuel and air in a stock 6.4 for 500 rwhp with just tuning. No need for head stud worries as far as i can see 5/8" bolts whoooo... He mentioned that the turbos on them were 44mm and 54mm.

I know the latest batch of 6.4Ls will go into limp mode & throw all kinds of codes & won't go over 5mph when you straight pipe em. I was thinking of an exhaust butterfly valve put pre PF that could switch it to a set of stacks but everything would still be plugged in. Probley wouldn't work but it would be worth a try!

How much longer do you all see this engine being built, I read an article about a new in house 6.7 being created. Its a real bummer that this engine came out with problems and still have issues now. What ever happend to quality and being the best. Ford needed to listen to guys like us and more of these forums and then they could build a good engine and trans combo. The out come would have been a 7.3 with a 32v head and common rail with a dual turbo system, oh and one more thing, FORGED RODS!

I know of someone that was designing a retro kit for the 7.3 to convert to common rail. I'm sure that if u wanted compounds and forged rods he can do that too, or billet. Hopefully he will get off his ass and put it together.

Doubt it. Too many other projects he has to finish first. :D

If I got to choose the engine in the superduty it wouldn't have anything to do with International or Ford.

There's this little OTR tractor engine supplier, you might have heard of them, Caterpillar?

Put one of those in front of a midrange Allison transmission and enjoy. I'm thinking C7 with the 425hp marine tune.
