well i finished my exhaust today...4in downpipe all the way back to a 5in tip.my old down pipe has some soot on one side and i was wandering what would cause it?

up pipe on pass side??? Are you low on boost or high egt??

i dont see any more than 20psi of boost.and thats when i get into the go pedal.i have replaced both top up-pipe gaskets

Maybe the bottom or the exh manifold. Check my sig & in 60T and I can hit 26 -27psi. you have a leak somewhere on that side. My truck without the chip will push 17psi .

would it even be a possibilty that my wastegate is stuck slightly open?

Nope. You have an exhaust leak somewhere right there.

is there a seal between the bottom of the up-pipe and the exhaust manifold?

would it even be a possibilty that my wastegate is stuck slightly open?
The wastegate doesn't dump into the engine compartment, it dumps into the exhuast so isn't responsible for the soot.

i used food grade stainless steel cause it was free(and really shiny).i welded a flange on the end of my downpipe and another on the next piece of pipe.the entire system can be unclamped from the downpipe in 2 seconds.$115 in it with the down pipe being $90+s&h
