I'm running Bean's hybrids, QSSB turbo, DP-Tuner tunes, ITP regulated return, and the rest of the normal mods on a 2000 F-250. I'm looking to upgrade the fuel pump to catch up with these injectors. I had been leaning towards the FASS 150/180 system, since I've seen a number of folks on here and on TDS running this unit. However, when I spoke to a diesel shop to order it, the shop specialists said it'd be too much pump for my setup and recommended something smaller. He mentioned that too much pump would make the truck hard to start.

1) Is it too much pump? I'm pretty sure I've seen a couple of the people running this pump with less mods than what I have. On the other hand, a shop would never recommend buying a cheaper product unless they really believed it'd be better.

2) Are there any other repercussions for running a huge pump? I expect it to be louder and I wouldn't be surprised if it has a shorter lifespan than a factory pump. Anything else?

3) Why would a big pump mean harder starting? It's still regulated to the correct pressure, right? I personally wouldn't equate longer priming time with harder starting, but maybe that's what he's referring to.

Thanks!

1) no, it's fine

2) yes, you'll have more fuel than you need so you can step up to larger injectors

3)Truck will start faster since the larger pump can build pressure faster.

I RUN IT AND NO STARTING ISSUES TO DATE. It is plenty for beans hybrids and will handle b-codes as swell. Just do it and get it from Diesel Innovations, a supporting sponsor.

First thing is scratch said shop from list of potential advice.

The 150/180 was made for our trucks per DI specs.
Also keep in mind the 150/180 kit other vendors sell is not the same kit we sell. If you want the right setup the first time give us a shout.
