do you usually have your windows down.... i'd check for an exhaust leak because i could have a small leak and being pulled into your cab i had an exhaust leak around the forward part of my cab and the fumes were being pull or pushed into my truck and i could only smell it with my windows up

Remember that a Diesel with an exhaust leak is hard to hide. You will see black soot seeping out of the hole. If you have fuel in the valley you'll smell it strongly in the cab too!

okay just got in from outside, the bowl did not appear to be cracked at all, im thinkin its from the valve o rings. doesnt appear like any of the lines are leakin. where does the bowl typically crack at? i mopped it all up, i figure ill drive it around and see how much more appears .

Temp fix, pull the valve off. cut a piece of gasket material to cove everything, and put it back on. Kills the valve completely.

Put some torque on that fuel filter cap. I went through this about two weeks ago when it FINALLY got cool enough to run my defroster(summer it stays on Max A/C. period) got the strong diesel odor and went out and found my cap had backed out about 1/2 a turn. cleaned the valley(you must do this or you will still smell diesel) and kept on truckin.

Busted a fuel filter lid and didn't catch it for a half mile down the road, by the time I got back to the house, the insulation was soaked. After three days of trying to let it dry out I gave up and put it on the curb on trash day.

If you take it all apart there is a third o-ring down inside it that people don't tell you about. You can buy a box of assorted o-rings at O'Reilly's for like 8 bucks. It will have one of the main ones, the lost one no one tells you about and like ten or so others. You have to buy two packages to get both o-rings.
