I'm about to do a water pump and add a coolant filter, and while doing this, I was going to switch to some heavy duty ELC coolant. I've been unsure of what to get, and was wondering if any of you have used this brand? I noticed it didn't mention, ford, Navistar, or international on the back. I got it from oreilleys.

And correct me if I'm wrong, because apparently I've done my coolant changes wrong with all my previous water pump jobs, but I pour 4 gallons of this full strength coolant into the system to start, and then just top it off with distilled water for the rest, which I'm guessing will be about 3 more gallons? In the past, I always premixed the antifreeze and added until full. Thanks

Lastly, is a coolant flush absolutely neccessary when making the switch?

IMO if your switching coolants then I would do a full flush(2 or 3 times with distilled water). Also if that is not 50/50 I would use a 1:1 ratio.
