EGR cooler leaking?

When I start my truck up after it sits for a few hours it will blow out white smoke on start up for maybe 5 to 10 seconds. The other day I pulled the EGR valve to clean it. I saw some moisture down in the intake. Are these signs my EGR cooler is leaking? I haven't noticed any coolant loss.

Very possible. Park it nose down hill, let it sit s bit, the pull the valve. See if there is a good bit of moisture . Figure this out before you pop your HG.

^^^^ Agreed 100%
So does the EGR cooler get a crack in it?

I just got my kit in. I'm going to get it done within the next few weeks. I've been doing a lot of reading on the site and I am thinking of removing it in 3 pieces so I don't have to pull the intake. I'm thinking I can unbolt it at both ends, cut it in the center and then cut the piece off that goes from the cooler to the intake and pull all three pieces out without undoing the intake.

The only thing I am unsure of is if the delete piece that bolts to the intake and has the coolant tube with o ring will slide under and in.

Im thinking it will save a lot of time and hassle to do it this way. Also avoid any issues that might come up from unbolting the intake.
the EGR tubes fail look at bulletproof diesel for pictures

if there was a good shortcut I think someone would have come out with it by now
not to say one shouldn't try new things but everyone wants the easy way out so I fully expect what your contemplating has been tried before

Save yourself the headache and pull the intake. Turbo has to come out anyways to do what you are describing...you'll be right there. Hardest part of EGR delete is the up pipe.
Pull the intake off and clean all the #### out of it while you're in there. I personally think it's harder to install a delete with the intake still on.
