It's getting into the high 30's -low 40's around here, once the truck warms up, at by the temp gauge, how often should it open and close?
read somwhere thay the tube may need to be cleaned? mine seems to close partialy at 55 mph, more if your in town driving.

It should close when cold, and open up when you get on the throttle, then close back.

If the tube is clogged it will want to close and stay closed, even when you're on the throttle hard which gives the truck about 25 HP to go down the road LOL

Causes problems. Actually it closes a valve, creating backpressure when cold. Warms up the cabi faster. First thing I disconnected and wired open.

What does an EBPV do ?
The EBPV is an Exhaust Back Pressure Valve. It is located on the outlet side of the turbocharger exhaust housing.
It is an electric over hydraulic system, so it uses engine oil to close the valve. A common place to have oil leak from is the hole in the end of the actuator housing where the shaft moves.
It is used (OEM) to warm up the engine faster. I've found it bumps up EGTs about 100-150 degrees at idle. about 200 degrees at high idle (1250rpm).
It can be a pain when driving because it won't open up fast enough to get the desired engine response.
I wired mine along with the torque converter to act as an exhaust brake. It works well as a brake for the money spent (~$20).

Most people either (in no particular order):
1. Make it into a brake
2. disconnect it
3. gut it (remove the valve and plug the holes)

First step is to remove the turbo. I heard there are some freeze plugs that you can fill the shaft holes with.
