Tonight I opened my hood and was looking under my turbo when I seen that the rod connecting the butterfly valve to the rod that opens and closes it was broken off. I don't have a problem with it being broken. I just would like to know which position is open and which is closed because my fuel milage is crap and I want to see if closing it makes any difference. I just bought this truck and I have no idea what the previous owner did.

People don't delete their EBPV because it works better closed.

Think about it, is your truck going to run better with a restriction at the output of the turbp?

The job of the EBPV is to help the truck warm up faster when it's really cold outside. It has nothing to do with making it run better.
