were going to rebuild our first diesel engine. we've rebuilt gas motors befor and know its not the same theory. my first question. is our 1997 f350 7.3 liter powerstroke the engine that has caused all the problem between ford truck and international diesel, i've read where the powerstroke has cost ford truck 50mil dol. on warranty work. is our engine in the same group. my second is how much cylender wear can a new set of rings compensate for. any feed back is much appriciated also is there a on line chat room. thanks donald

The 7.3 is the good engine. The 6.0 is the problem child for Ford.

On the rings, I could only guess, so I'll leave that for some one else. Personnaly, I'd bore and go with oversized pistons.

Its not the glow plugs that are the real problem, its the intake air heater!
Talk about blowing an intake off......or maybe catching you hair on fire....(never experienced personally, just heard about .....):D. Stupid ether...
