Been chasing a crank no start, Ipr is just under 500, gets fast cranking but just won't hit. Checked Ipr screen wasn't broke plunger still moves, ficm 49 sync is good, 14.7v 24.7 while cranking. Put dummy plugs and stand pipes no change...pulled turbo and went after stc fitting and found out I have the round pump. Pulled it but the ball is still in place, is there a way to test these pumps?

The best test is to do an air test with it installed and if you hear air flow or gurgling from the oil filter housing, then the pump is bad. I guess you could rig up air to the pump discharge and if much was blowing through to the suction it might be an indication that the pump was bad, I just am not 100% sure of that though.

As an fyi - none of the 04's ever had the failure prone STC fitting that was replaced with the one-piece fitting. That was 05 and up when the cast iron pump (w/ aluminum cover) was introduced.
