Looks like I need a new block, just wondering what year of the 7.3 was the strongest. There is a thread about cracked blocks, but no info about the good ones. Any help would be great. Thanks.

get an obs one, or one with know forged rods.

when my e99 split i swapped in a '96 shortblock. where did yours crack? just about the pan rail near the oil cooler?

It is on the passenger side off the freeze plug above the starter.
