Hey everyone, so I need some input. Today I drove about 260ish miles from Grand Rapids Michigan to Mansfield Ohio. When I got to my destination, i noticied trans fluid down my passenger fender. My dad built my transmission, i do not know what he put into the tranny besides billet internals and a shift kit, hes an auto trans specialist at Ford. I do know that he put an inline filter, and ran a second trans cooler to work with the factory one ( i believe its a Hayden?). Lfuid was dumping out of the factory cooler. I took a hose barb and connected the two lines that go into the cooler. The transmission was veru low on fluid but was shifting like normal. I made the repair and filled it with fluid and took it for a test drive and it shifted like normal. Is my transmission going to be ok? Os there anything else i should do?

Was you pulling anything. Do you know what your temps got up too and how much did you have to add to get it back to full. That said if it was driving fine before and after I would worry unless temps got too high.

I dont have gauges so i dont know.how hot it got. I wasnt towing anything. I have 3.55 gears and 35s if that means anything. I added a little over half a gallon to get it back to full

2.5 qts isnt much considering it takes some 16 qts to fill, I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah 2.5 quarts is. Ot that far down I know mine holds 20 quarts with cooler and empty torque converter. So u should be fine on that.

Thanks yall. Im gonna be putting a new factory cooler in. Im jist glad i put that hayden cooler on so it was redundant

If by "factory cooler" you're talking about the original tiny air-to-oil cooler on the outside of the radiator, I wouldn't bother replacing it with another one like it. It's too small anyway. Hopefully your Hayden is larger and can do the job itself. If not, I'd get one large one rather than use two smaller ones. Having too many coolers can lead to excessive restrictions, not to mention an additional hose to fail.

Of course, you want to also keep using the cooler that's inside the coolant radiator.
