after 3 months of nothing but trouble with my 08 f250 6.4L i am starting a duramax/allison swap. i bought a wrecked 06 gmc sierra classic with the 6.6 and 6 speed allison. comes complete with everything needed, truck runs and lot drives.
Basically this idea started after the truck first had a turbo failure which went in under warranty at 6,000 miles. then 5,000 miles later i had a turbo fire due to an improperly installed o ring or some crap. it burnt up the engine harness, intake manifold and various other underhood items. ford will not take responsibility and i am now stuck with a dead $30,000 08 ford.
My father, an avid chevy owner who has been giving me grief since day one with the truck, decided to give me some advice and point me towards the possibility of a more reliable and proven setup that his truck is running. so he found me the wrecked chevy and now its all starting, so far i have the ford motor out and im cleaning and sorting burnt wiring. joining the two harnesses doesnt seem like it will be much of an issue since the duramax/allison computer is almost stand alone with only outputs for gauges aside from the obvious ground, positive feed and ignition requirements. i know i will get flamed for this, but when i finish im sure i wont be the only one interested.
