I was towing my 5th wheel and suddenly heard a noise almost like air brakes release. Had a lot of smoke and truck began to sound like a miss.Got out looked and found oil underneathe the drivers wheel well and on the ground. I was on the hwy so I drove it about 3 miles to a large parking lot.
It starts but makes a loping sound. No check engine light but my programmer gave 2 codes:
  • P0284 Cylinder 8 Contribution/Balance
  • P0308 Cylinder 8 Misfire Detected
Does anyone have any idea what it could be? I had it towed to and RV park and left it until I can fiqure out how im going to get it all home to San Antonio, Texas?
Thanks

Is there a hole in the driver side of the engine block near the firewall? There are not many ways that oil can escape without going through the combustion chamber.

At this point I have not had an opportunity to look at it. It is still sitting 350 miles from home and I had to hitch a ride back. I am going in a couple of days to pick it up. Just trying to get an idea what it might be ahead of time.
