Like the title asks. Does it make a noticeable difference to go with the 3" intakes. I have do decide if I am going to change them now or wait for the new block going in next year.

Next question...

I have Stealth big oil, can it be done without taking out the twin pumps? Has anyone done it? Any pointers?

Thanks :ford:

you have to pull the pumps to get the bottom plenum bolts out. I just put plenums on in the truck not too long ago. With the pumps and turbo out it wasn't too bad of job. Worst part was getting the pass side plenum broke loose. Beans billet plenums will clear the pumps w/o any modifications.

I'm running Bean's plentums. My stock ones would crush when I tried to tighten the boots. Looks better too.

Removing a restricting can't hurt anything. I just wonder how much it helps, since air's being forced through them rather than being sucked through them.

Thank you Aljay and Thank you Joey for the info. With that I think they will have to say until I put in the new block.

Did you change then with termy in or out of the truck?

Can't hurt. The SD's went big for a reason, so I finally changed mine on the 95(Stock SD's). I haven't noticed any difference yet.
Thanks for the reply. I am going to swap the intakes when I go to the 38r just wanted to see if anyone actually noticed a difference.

I am going with a larger than normal turbo and was wondering the same thing. BWD said it would help things breath but did not say how much and is designing a mounting kit for my early 99 intakes but had not confirmed the order yet. Another shop said it was less than a 5% gain going larger.

I have not seen much of a gain in power by switching to them on my '97 but EGT did drop some. Planning to do the other '97 when I get time.
Lower EGT's are good. What kind of drop? 100*?
