i need to put keyless entry on my wifes pickup and was wondering do all i need to do is buy the remote and program it? or do i gotta get it all ?

cycle key on and off 8 times. If the doors lock and unlock, it has it.

If they dont, doesn't have it.
My 02 XLT does not have it from the factory.

Pretty sure you can. I was gonna get it from an X at the junkyard but never got a roundtuit.

Ford sells it too I believe, whatever the site for Genuine Ford Accessories is, look there.

GEM or Security module. One of the two or either. I betcha all the wires are there already, cannot see them doing two different wiring jobs. I bet you are only missing one piece, that piece may only be reprogramming an existing module.

On the other hand, I am just guessing and trying to get my post count up to a respectable level without being a total post whore.

You can by a remote start and keyless all in one neat package from ford, you tell them what your puting it in and the'll even give you na wireing diagram for you vehilce.

ahhhahaha amen to that... tho i think in the three months weve owned her truck ive put more money into upgrades into that than I have on my own!! I think part of it is that parts for dodge trucks are a hell of a lot cheaper than for my truck. I found a way to get what i want tho... all i have to do is break whatever it is i wanna replace.. that way I Have to replace it!! thats how i got my fuel injectors!!! buuut i didnt intentionally break those, it just gave me the idea.

you can buy a keyless entry pad from ford that double stick tapes to the door. It works great and is easy to program.

but how does it connect into the truck? we were lookin at the remote keyfob type keyless entry
