Okay I figgured I'd ask here because this is more of an OBS question. I was wondering if I can take the disc brakes off of a 10.5" Superduty axle & put them on my 93s 10.25" axle? I just wondered if you really had to do some fabbing or if it would more or less be a bolt on kind of thing.

yes it can be done there some fab work its not too bad im tryin to round up the parts theres a guy that did it im trying to find the link.

the 00 e350 rotors are the ones ya need to use, then need sd calipers, ebrake, brake lines and ebrake cable.

I couldn't post for a while so I sent a PM to answer this question. For the good of the forum here is what I said:

I can't post right now but I can PM so I will give you info this way. The SD rear brakes are by no means bolt on. the bracket is different that bolts to the axle. The parking brake is also integrated into that bracket (its a small drum brake inside the rotor). I recently built my own rear disc brakes for my truck. Here is my webshots and write up.

To answer your question on whether is was worth it and how much it cost me.

Yes it was worth it. The truck stops like a car now! very nice!!

Cost: rotors(pair)-$90, calipers (non parking brake,pair including core charge)- $100 or so, hoses (pair)- $50, pads- $40, Steel was free, bolts were $10 and a bit of brake line. those prices are off the top of my head so I think they are accurate, and they are also my cost not over the counter prices on parts. I have since bought a used and disassembles set of caddy parking brake calipers that will be going on to get an E-brake operational. And I am thinking about adding a Mico lever lock to lock the front brakes for parking brakes since E-brake cables don't stand up to michigan winters very well.

So I just have to pull the calipers off of a Superduty, then order some Rotors for a 00 E350 Van & a few other things? I like the sound of it already. So I can also get away without running an E brake cable? Like Beggs said Michigan winters & salt mean that once you engage them they won't release.

You will have to make some brackets for the calipers to go on but if i remember right its not that bad

yes you will need to build some brackets. I have never heard of anybody using SD calipers. I am going to do some checking on rotor sizes. The SD calipers would be nice other than the E brake issue.

theres a guy that posted the writeup on the "other site" i wanted the sd calipers so i have the ford parts and there bigger calipers than the caddys. and im gonna use the sd parking brake assymbly. i cant remember the guys name. he has a really good write up with a ton of pics

So what year Vans are we suppost to look for on all of this?

I used 1996 rear rotors. And I just did a search on Napa's site and I check 96,2000,2003 and all three use the same rotor for the rear. This rotor is also the same dimensions as the SD truck rear rotor just the bolt pattern is different. napa part number 4886799 is what I used
