sold my E99 last week only because we need a crew cab for now, but hate to say a 05 dodge ram 2wd crew cab was what we bought, ive read alot of the post on the guys swaping the cummins into a powerstroke, and guys in the mags droping a cummins into a 3/4 ton, so do you think its a possible idea to drop a 6.4 into said truck above?

so far list includes
6.4 engine and trans, computer, wiring harness, custom drive shaft and rear end, springs, intercooler, and all that .

You should have just bought a 6.4.

It would make life a lot easier.

I am sure it can be done though.

Throw enough $$ at it and anything is possible. If you want a 6.4, just sell the Dodge. We all know which one is the better truck.... jk kinda

yeah its a 1500, and trust me id rather have bought a newer 6.4 but with a morgage payment and brand new bike payment every month, its easier to save some money then have another payment on top of the other two, and one main reason would be to piss the dodge guys off, but once the bikes paid off there will be another sd in the garage, but for now can only play with this one, and with the miles that are on the truck i can still sell the motor and trans for a pretty good amount, picked it up with only 26k on the odometer

if you did the swap id think u would have to do some rearend work or a swap dont think a stock 1500 DODGE rearend could handle the 6.4 POWAH! i bet u could make a spread in a mag with this swap though;):D

whell the stock rear end would definitey come out regardless, was thinking a narrowed 10.25 sterling axle, and will definitely do research on it would be a def mag spread, always a cummins swap into something else but a 6.4 swap into a dodge would be awesome, and plus piss off alot of die hard mopar and cummins guys,

You keep mentioning this one part "and plus piss off alot of die hard mopar and cummins guys"

There are much easier ways to piss people off if thats your only goal in life. Besides from my experience Cummins guys could care less what you do for a swap, they are so used to Ford guys putting 6BTs Cummins in Fords, it doesnt bother them. Not to mention Dodge Cummins guys i run with HATE the 1500 and all its Hemi b.s. Come to think of it you could swap a 12v into the 1500 get 30-40 MPG and have 600hp for much less $ than the 6.4.

Ill just take a stab at it and put the price of such a swap (6.4) conservatively at $15,000 after its all said and done.

and by that part i mean alot of the guys i used to work with and family and friends, and yeah a 12v would be easy, hell i could jut swap bodies and be done, but that takes the fun and challange out of it. and honestly if it dosent work who do i have to blame but myself and no other member here will be out the money except for me

Well if you miraculously come across a rolled or tboned 6.4 truck for cheap do that... Swap out the harness etc.. Only economical way to swap that in.. otherwise look for a rusted out or body damaged whatever diesel truck for cheap..

Usually much cheaper, faster and easier than sourcing parts separately...

4BT swaps are cool too and there are adapter plates available for ford, chevy and maybe dodge transmissions.

I would keep an eye out till I stumbled on the proper stuff.. I just picked up a DT360(complete with dual ac compressors, bendix air pump alt, fan, exhaust, charge tubes, etc), a sweet intercooler, some sweet bus mirrors, etc for $500

The swap would be cool but...

Looking at the practicality and expense, you've got 10 - 15k in the truck + ??? To do the swap (another 10k?). I've seen 100k mile 6.4's for that. Not to mention the 1-off parts and time.
