Keep and eye on the crank case level to make sure you're not filling it up with diesel fuel.
Get it running well and nice and warm, then shut it off, cycle the key a ton of times to keep the fuel pump running and then Bar (not crank) it over to see if you've filled the cylinders with anything.
Hydrolocking is a bad deal.
The more you do it on the starter the better your chances of really F'ing something up.
